Lyrics
Since I started dreaming, I’ve lived a lifetime,
Conquered a few demons and lived most irresponsibly,
There’s no one to blame, I’m still alive and mostly sane,
Will someone please tell me just what happened to me,
Not everyone get’s to be a Spaceman,
Instead we find some solace in our middle-class dreams,
We can’t all be New York Yankees, or a warp-drive superhero,
Pursuit of happiness, in the land of the free,
Seems I bounced in circles in search of a calling,
Discarded many costumes that didn’t seem to fit,
Was misguided by my lies, and so imperfect in my eyes,
Instead of building a foundation much easier to quit,
Not everyone…
I crashed right through the wall that logic set before me,
I was living on the frontier, the chemical kid,
I was pretty good with lies, and a master of disguise,
If I got my satisfaction no reason left to give,
Not everyone gets to be a Spaceman,
Instead we find some solace in our middle-class dreams,
We can’t all be New York Yankees, or a warp-drive superhero,
Pursuit of happiness, in the land of the free,
I was flying through the cosmos, in the land of the free,
Will someone please forgive me, for just being me…
